Description
I would like to welcome you to the 40th Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival.
What we envisioned as a one day event to honor the mullet and what
it meant to our forefathers and community has turned into a three day
celebration. It’s no longer a festival, but a happening. Our folks use it as
a family reunion, a class reunion, an annual meeting place for old friends
and acquaintances, and a Boggy Country party that lasts for three days!
Niceville is a unique community with bayous, Choctawhatchee Bay, and
the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Eglin Reservation with 800 square
miles of protected forest land to the north. Our part of paradise includes
active duty military, active civil service, retired military, retired civil
service, a great work force of civilians and natives (commonly referred
to as “fish heads”). The Mullet Festival is our opportunity each year to
showcase our community and to show what the “nice” in Niceville is all
about.
On behalf of the nine members of the Mullet Festival Committee and
all the citizens of Niceville, have a great festival and see you next year!
Lannie L. Corbin
President
