Operations & Membership Manager: General Job Description

The Operations & Membership Manager plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Chamber while supporting membership growth, engagement, and communication. This position requires an individual who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Equally important is a creative flair for content creation and promotions, along with the savvy to incorporate new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), into day-to-day operations. This individual should be a self-starter, solution-oriented, and resourceful—capable of anticipating needs, streamlining processes, and driving projects forward with minimal direction.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and data accurately.
  • Proficiency in website content management, social media platforms, and basic graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Express.
  • Self-starter mindset with initiative, problem-solving skills, and comfort using artificial intelligence tools to improve workflow and communication.

Top 3 Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in membership-based organizations or nonprofits.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), and light bookkeeping software.
  • Ability to craft engaging stories and promotional content that highlights community impact and member value.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an office or administrative setting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience managing websites (WordPress or similar CMS platforms).
  • Working knowledge of social media tools, scheduling platforms, and email marketing systems.
  • Graphic design experience using platforms such as Canva, Adobe Express, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to use AI-based tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, scheduling assistants) to streamline work and enhance productivity.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and present reports clearly and effectively.
  • Positive, professional attitude with the ability to work independently and handle shifting priorities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Organize, coordinate, and execute Chamber events, meetings, and programs.
  • Update and maintain Chamber website, calendar, and online directories.
  • Create and manage social media content and promotional campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Design simple marketing materials, flyers, and digital graphics.
  • Respond to member inquiries and deliver high-quality support.
  • Support membership onboarding, engagement, and retention efforts.
  • Draft professional correspondence, newsletters, and reports.
  • Monitor and maintain membership and administrative databases.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to inform decisions and improve processes.
  • Seek out and implement tools and systems that improve office efficiency and communication.
