The Okaloosa County School District is looking for an Accountant to work in the Accounting & Financial Reporting Department. Duties include but are not limited to Medicaid billing & administration, recording & approving revenue received, weekly bank activity reporting, recording & tracking NSF checks, preparation of School Financial Reports annually, assist Director with Annual Financial Statement reporting analysis, assist Fixed Asset Accountant with inventory and monthly/year end balancing, backup for processing accounts payable check runs, assist in balancing general ledger accounts and other department assistance as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor in Accounting, Finance or Business
Two years experience preferred but may consider recent/upcoming college graduate
Medicaid experience preferred but not required
Excel knowledge required
Start date is January 12, 2026
Monthly salary starts between $3,907 and $6,145, depending on experience.
District fully paid premiums for employee's medical, dental and life insurance. Dependent coverage available at employee cost.
Florida Retirement System allows an employee to earn a monthly pension after vesting or have funds placed in an investment account for retirement.
The time off is generous – two weeks at Christmas, one week at Thanksgiving, most holidays, 12 days of annual leave, and 12 days of sick leave. Annual leave increases the longer you are with the School District.
