Description
This is the 22nd anniversary of Thanksgiving dinner with Harbor Docks and Habitat for Humanity. Okaloosa Habitat coordinates volunteers to act as wait staff to serve a complimentary traditional meal to locals and tourists at Harbor Docks in Destin. The annual Thanksgiving event has become a welcomed tradition to families along the Emerald Coast both as guests and volunteers.
Each Thanksgiving, Charles Morgan, owner of Harbor Docks, partners with Habitat to assist in helping relieve substandard living conditions locally. While offering a complimentary meal to every guest, he allows Habitat to accept “tips” as a donation to the mission of Habitat. If you are looking for a way to give back this holiday season consider joining Habitat Okaloosa for a traditional dinner. Doors open on Thanksgiving at 11:00 a.m. with dinner being served until 7:00 p.m. at Harbor Docks, 538 East Highway 98 in Destin; a cash bar will be made available.
Melissa Forte, Community Outreach Director said, “Over the last ten years I’ve seen families grow together as they serve others and witness the blessings they have that others may not. We are now seeing the second generation of volunteers bringing their families on board to support Habitat in this special way. Repeat visitors to our area have joined this tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving while helping the local community.”
Habitat for Humanity Okaloosa County is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Okaloosa County. Reservations are not available. If you have any questions regarding this event or the Habitat program please call Melissa Forte at 850-315-0025, Ext. 3 or visit www.habitatfwb.org.
