Description
The Doolittle Institute invites the public to join the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in their vibrant space to work on projects, collaborate, and build strategic relationships.
TH!NK Thursday is open to those both inside and outside of AFRL who want to connect and interact with innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs. They’ll feature refreshments from local business owners and entrepreneurs at the day’s event. January’s theme is all about innovation with tech transfer and commercialization!
• 8:00 – 11:00 A.M.: Donuts with DI: Coffee shop-style collaboration with donuts in our vibrant workspace, the Outside Loop. This open house framework runs concurrently with the morning’s featured events below.
• 9:00 a.m.: The Federal Laboratory Consortium Tools with John Dement: Attend an informational session with John Dement, Chairman of the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC), and learn about the online tools the organization offers. Mr. Dement will teach attendees what the FLC can do for you, for businesses, and what lab-to-lab opportunities are available. Afterwards, Mr. Dement will open up the floor for a Q&A
• 10:00 a.m.: “Patenting in AFRL: Making a research paper fly,” with Patent/IP Attorney David E. Franklin, AFMC Wright-Patt AFB: Attendees will receive the opportunity to consult with the Air Force Materiel Command’s patent attorney about AFRL's preparation, processes, and protection of intellectual property. Mr. Franklin will also discuss software patents, overview of intellectual property areas, and distinguishing the level of work required for reduction to practice based on technology area.
• 11:30 a.m.: ORTA Briefing for Filing Disclosure within AFRL Through a Partnership Intermediary Agreement with the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW), the Doolittle Institute helps organizations, innovators, and entrepreneurs benefit from expansive basic and applied Department of Defense research. The Doolittle Institute acts a neutral facilitator and trusted counselor, connecting a national network of individuals, businesses, educators and government organizations to enable creative and integrated solutions.
