The Air Force Enlisted Village's major local fundraising event, the 11th Annual Bob Hope Memorial Charity Golf Classic, will be held May 16-17, 2014 at the Eglin AFB Golf Course in Niceville. Registration is open online at www.afev.us/GolfClassic or by calling 850-651-3766. Proceeds from this event benefit military widows in need residing at the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV). Play begins on Friday, May 16 at noon on The Eagle course (check in is at 10:30 am). Golfers will play The Eagle again on Saturday, May 17 with an 8:30 a.m. start and an awards luncheon will immediately follow. There will be prizes for the winning teams, a Longest Drive contest sponsored by GEICO, a Closest to the Pin contest, and an opportunity for hole-in-one prizes sponsored by Sam Taylor Buick Cadillac. The two day tournament is $150 per person and golfers will receive green fees, golf cart, range balls, commemorative coin, goody bag, on-course refreshments and lunch for both days. AFEV is a nonprofit organization near Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field that provides a home for surviving spouses of former military heroes and to mothers of current active duty and retired military members. AFEV's purpose is to give these women a safe, secure home and to treat them with the dignity and respect we reserve for our own moms.
