DESCRIPTION:The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries at Northwest Florida State College welcome back the Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery Nov. 29 to Dec. 3\, 2016 . This special exhibition is free of charge.  The monks will construct a mandala sand painting in the McIlroy Gallery in an exhibition titled - The Mystical Arts of Tibet. This four-day event follows the Buddhist ritual of preparation\, creation\, and ultimate destruction and return to nature of an intricate work of art in sand.  To date the monks have created mandala sand paintings in more than 100 museums\, art centers\, and colleges in the US and Europe.  The Opening Ceremony is Tuesday\, November 29\, at 12 p.m. (noon). The exhibition continues Wed. - Fri.\, Nov. 30 & Dec. 1 & 2 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with evening hours and a reception on Dec. 2 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
